As an award-winning New York based photographer, I find myself after twenty five years captivated by two visual inspirations. As a born and bred Ohioan, the first is nostalgic, where my imagination is stirred by feelings from a childhood spent on the shores of the Great Lakes: the beauty of natural light, the simple moments and genuine emotions of carefree youth and innocence. At the same time I am a tried and true New Yorker, more than ever attracted to the energy of urban landscapes and its people. I strive to find the cinematic in my subjects, rejecting inert, sculptural photography for something more kinetic, alive, and ultimately, authentic. While I shoot primarily with Cannon systems, I am fluent in a number of formats, from plastic to state of the art digital cameras.I also have a passion for live action direction, which has led to spots for TNT, FOX, STARZ, ENCORE and many others.
I live with my husband Chris Lavarco, a wine dealer and gem procurer, and our three children, Geraldine, Babette, and Toulouse, whom don't seem to realize they are Siamese cats. In addition to being animal lovers, we also enjoy art, wine, food, and a healthy Mediterranean lifestyle here on the island of New York.
